Looking out for those odd local customs

I'm sitting in an ethnic minority restaurant in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, chatting with colleagues over dinner, when a procession of small men and women in traditional garb enters the room.

"A cultural show, I love cultural shows," I whisper to the local guy on my right. He shakes his head, eyes wide with something approaching fear.

And just like that, I'm suddenly surrounded.
