It was not easy for Sun Jin to choose to start a company when he graduated from Tsinghua University.

As a doctoral graduate of one of China's top universities, he had good prospects for employment at multinationals or large State-owned companies. But Sun, together with his roommates, Shao Jinhua and Duan Houli, founded a company after inventing the world's first image-guided, noninvasive liver fibrosis diagnostic system.

"We didn't even consider finding a job at other people's companies then," said Sun. "We asked ourselves at the time what should be our guide for choosing a job. What Karl Marx said inspired us, which was to pursue human happiness and our own perfection.""It may sound empty, but I believe that people can realize self-fulfillment by creating more for society," he said.
