SCU, Chengdu team up for science park initiative

Sichuan University and Chengdu, the provincial capital, will invest 400 million yuan ($64.4 million) to build a science park to attract scientists and researchers from world-famous universities and research institutes.

"They will conduct research and development, and turn the fruit of that work into products," said Xie Heping, president of Sichuan University.

The park's construction will be part of an initiative to turn Chengdu into a science city, transferring projects and selling the discoveries to different parts of the world, he said.
