Country declares Ebola emergency
Guinean President Alpha Conde has declared a 45-day "health emergency" in five regions of the Ebola-hit nation in a bid to stem the spread of the deadly disease. The regions affected are in the west and southwest of the country.

Flight comes off runway in Halifax
An Air Canada plane came off the runway after landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia on Sunday, sending at least 25 people to hospital with minor injuries, officials said. The airline said earlier on Twitter that flight AC624 from Toronto "exited runway upon landing at Halifax".

Ethnic group calls for cease-fire
A Myanmar ethnic joint group has called for an immediate cease-fire as armed clashes continued in the north of the country amid peace talks, the local Democracy Today daily reported on Sunday. The United Nationalities Federal Council issued a four-point statement expressing regret that not only the ground fighting but also airstrikes intensified amid coordination to reduce the military conflict.

Scene 'bleak' in flooded region
Chilean President Michelle Bachelet pointed to a "bleak" situation in the country's flood-hit north Saturday, after deadly rains swept through the normally arid area last week. The president spent two days in the devastated Atacama region and in nearby Antofagasta, where floods left at least 12 dead, 20 missing and hundreds of people homeless. The death toll is expected to rise.

President's kin dies from attack
Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena's youngest brother has died two days after he was attacked with an ax in what authorities say was a personal dispute. According to a government statement, the 42-year-old Priyantha Sirisena died in a private hospital in Colombo on Saturday. The attacker has surrendered to police.

Militant group claims bombing
An Egyptian militant group has claimed responsibility for a bombing on Saturday in front of Cairo University that wounded eight people, including four police officers. The group Ajnad Misr, or "Egypt's soldiers", said in a statement posted early on Sunday on a militant website that it planted the bomb targeting police officers and private guards at the entrances of the university. It said the blast wounded no civilians.
Indonesia
6 dead, 4 missing after landslide
Rescuers have found six bodies and are searching for four others after a landslide hit Sukabumi district of West Java on Saturday night, an Indonesian official said on Sunday. As many as 300 people were fleeing homes and taking shelters.
