New Volkswagen Sagitar

The new Volkswagen compact sedan, made by the Sino-German joint venture FAW Volkswagen, was officially launched last week, and retails for between 131,800 and 185,800 yuan (21,343 - 30,087).

The new Sagitar is equipped with Volkswagen's latest, smaller, EA211 engine, which has two options - the 1.6-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated and the 1.4-liter turbocharged fuel stratified injection. The model also has three gearbox options: a five-speed manual, six-speed Tiptronic or seven-speed direct shift gearbox.

The 1.6-liter version generates maximum power of 81kW/5800rpm and offers peak torque of 155Nm/3800rpm. Its comprehensive fuel consumption ranges between 6.5 and 6.8 liter per 100km. The 1.4-liter TSI version produces maximum power of 110kW/5000-6000rpm and its top torque reaches 250Nm/1750-3000rpm. It consumes 5.9 to 6.3 liters of fuel per 100km under comprehensive conditions.

Dongfeng MX6

Chinese carmaker Dongfeng launched its MX6 SUV in Beijing on Mar 19, with six versions to choose from, including 2-wheel-drive, 4-wheel-drive, manual or continuously variable transmission models.

The SUV was derived form Dongfeng Nissan's previous X-Trail platform and was manufactured in the X-Trail plant in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province.

The plant boasts the joint venture's advantages in technology and component supplies, combining the upgraded configurations, so the model offers value for money, according to the company.

The MX6 can lock the power output to front and rear wheels at a 50:50 ratio to drive off-road and suit varied conditions.

BAIC X65

The X65, BAIC Motor Corp's first SUV in the Senova series powered by former Saab's technologies, hit the market on March 21 in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province.

The SUV's Saab technologies include its 2-liter turbocharged engine and manual versions of the 5-speed gearbox.

Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission versions are also offered, with paddle shifters installed as a standard.

The engine offers maximum output of 130 kilowatts of power and 240 Nm peak torque, which ranks it first among its peers, according to the company. The model's updated engine management system adjusts output to meet various situations.

The new front-drive model uses independent suspension on both its front and rear wheels and its sturdy sub-frame construction promises excellent handling and reduced roll angles.
