Haidian wins big at awards

Among the 318 research achievements honored at the State Science and Technology Awards on Jan 9, 94 involved organizations and individuals from Haidian district.

Organizations in the district played a major role in 56 of the award-winning projects. Among the 56 accomplishments, 13 were given the State Natural Sciences Award, accounting for 72.2 percent of those presented the same prize in Beijing and 28.3 percent in the country.

Twelve of the 56 achievements received the State Technology Invention Award, four fifth of the same kind in Beijing and 17.1 percent in China.

The other 31 breakthroughs received the State Science and Technology Progress Award, accounting for 63.3 percent of those in Beijing and 15.3 percent of all in the country. Scientific and technological enterprises in the district, including Sinoma Science and Technology Co, were presented second prize for the State Technology Invention Award. Businesses including Beijing Challenge Bio-technology Co and Beijing Gk Feida Traffic Engineering Co were given second prize for the State Science and Technology Progress Award.

Of the 220 research achievements that were presented at the Beijing Science and Technology Awards on Feb 27, 108 involved organizations from Haidian, nearly half of all the accomplishments.

Nineteen of the 108 achievements were awarded first prizes, accounting for 63 percent of the achievements given the same prize.

Thirty-two of them were honored with second prizes and the others were given third prizes.

The achievements mirrored the development of scientific and technological innovation in Haidian as well as the incentive and guiding role that Beijing's scientific and technological policies play in promoting the city's economic development.
