The economic bond between China and Singapore is crucial for both countries, even during the less promising days, according to the latest report released by the governmental agency International Enterprise Singapore.
The report shows that non-oil domestic shipments, which are an important indicator of Singapore's export performance, plunged by 9.7 percent in February compared with the same month last year. It was the biggest drop in two years.
Contracted exports to China were a major factor in the plunge, according to HSBC economist Joseph Incalcaterra, who said last month's data showed the impact China can have on Singapore's trade numbers.
