Abbott recants second Nazi comparison in a month

By Associated Press in Canberra | China Daily | Updated: 2015-03-20 07:49

Australia's gaffe-prone prime minister took back his second Nazi-related comment in a month on Thursday after he compared the opposition party leader to the World War II-era German propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.

Tony Abbott told Parliament that Labor Party leader Bill Shorten was "the Dr Goebbels of economic policy".

Abbott immediately withdrew the comment, as opposition lawmakers shouted in protest.
