Changing tastes of our feline friends

By Wang Zhuoqiong | China Daily | Updated: 2015-03-20 07:14

Six months ago, my cousin who lives in a coastal city arrived to visit me with the big box of seafood. Armed with a bag of the leftover cooked fish, I was hoping to provide a sumptuous meal to the three stray cats in our neighborhood.

The mother cat was glowing when she saw me walking toward her. It was evident that shew as hungry and eagerly waiting for food. But she looked disappointed the minute I brought out the fish. She walked away without even touching it.

I was stunned. I had never raised a cat before. But I remembered observing my grandma feeding her cat with leftovers and scraps from the family table and we were proud that our cat ate the same food as us.
