Condition of Lee Kuan Yew, 91, 'worsened' because of an infection developed in hospital

The health of Singapore's founding leader, Lee Kuan Yew, has "worsened" due to an infection after nearly six weeks in the hospital, the government said on Tuesday.

The 91-year-old former prime minister - widely credited with transforming Singapore from an economic backwater into one of Asia's wealthiest economies in just over three decades - has been in Singapore General Hospital since Feb 5. He has been in the intensive care unit with severe pneumonia.
