Kovalev lowers boom on outclassed Pascal

Sergey Kovalev stopped former champion Jean Pascal in the eighth round on Saturday to retain his trio of light heavyweight world titles.
The unbeaten Russian improved to 27-0-1 with 24 KOs, retaining the World Boxing Association, World Boxing Organization and International Boxing Federation crowns.
He captured two of those belts four months ago with a unanimous 12-round decision over Bernard Hopkins, the first time Kovalev went past the eighth round.
