Study gauges golf's global popularity

New report charts game's international appeal

The world was host to 34,011 golf courses and facilities at the start of this year, the sport's ruling body revealed in a report issued on Wednesday.

It was the first time such a report had been commissioned by The R&A, coming at a time when golf is growing globally and will return to the Olympic Games at Rio de Janeiro next year.
