Editor's Note: Another 10 provinces and cities have expressed an interest in applyng to set up free trade zones in China, after the government's recent approval of a second batch of FTZs in Tianjin, Guangdong and Fujian. They include Chongqing, Wuhan (Hubei province), Xi'an (Shaanxi province), Chengdu (Sichuan province), Lanzhou (Gansu province) and Dalian (Liaoning province).

It is necessary to build a free trade zone in inland China, which can link inland capital, technology and products to the world. Wuhan would be an ideal city as it offers very high levels of innovation.
