A man suspected of shooting and injuring at least three people and holding a number of others hostage at an Internet cafe ended an eight-hour stand off with police by surrendering on Wednesday.

Police in Lu'an, Anhui province, said on their micro blog that all the hostages had been released safely.

The suspect, surnamed Tu, was driving a minivan when he failed to stop for a check by police at about 10am, according to China Central Television's micro blog. He shot at a traffic police officer four times and injured him before driving off.
