US president speaks at 50th anniversary of landmark event in civil rights struggle

With a nod to ongoing US racial tensions, US President Barack Obama declared on Saturday the work of the civil rights movement advanced but unfinished.

Obama made the remarks during a visit to Selma, Alabama, where police beatings of civil rights protesters 50 years ago galvanized the US Congress into passing a landmark national voting law.
