Special team to probe attack on US envoy

Republic of Korea prosecutors formed a special team on Thursday to investigate the attack against the US ambassador after police raided the home and office of the alleged assailant, local media said on Friday.
The Seoul Central District Court formed a special team of about 40 prosecutors and investigators. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, which formed a team of 75 investigators on Thursday, will forward the case to the prosecution team.
Kim Ki-jong, 55, head of an ROK cultural activity group, is accused of slashing Mark Lippert in his face and hand on Thursday morning. Kim received a two-year suspended jail term in July 2010 after he threw two rocks at the Japanese ambassador.
