Salaries increase to ease labor shortage

A company in Dongguan, a major production center in Guangdong province, is giving 800 yuan ($130) rewards to employees who successfully recommend new recruits, local media reported.

One employee is said to have earned 6,400 yuan for recommending eight people who were later hired by the company after the Lunar New Year.

The company is one of many in the prosperous Pearl River Delta competing to attract new workers.
