20 killed as bus carrying opera group runs off cliff

Police are investigating a bus crash on Monday night that killed 20 people, many of them members of an opera group.

The bus, which had been hired by an opera group in Zhengzhou, plunged off a cliff in Linzhou, a city administrated by Anyang, at about 11 pm. The bus was carrying 33 passengers, most of them Henan opera performers.

The driver of the bus was confirmed to be dead at the scene. Another 13 were injured, Anyang police in Henan province said. The injured were sent to nearby hospitals for treatment.
