Item from March 2, 1992, in China Daily: Chinese workers lay a power cable crossing the border between China's Northeast and Russia. The 1.26-kilometer-long international cable will be the first line through which the Russian Federation can sell electricity to China.

China and the Russian Federation share a border line of more than 4,000 kilo-meters, which provides sound transportation conditions for the development of overall bilateral trade.

According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, about 80 percent of the $3.9-billion bilateral trade volume between China and the former Soviet Union in 1991 was achieved with the Russia Federation.
