Digital makeover wreaks havoc in reality

Last month, a 30-year-old man from Northeastern China flew down to Zhejiang province for a blind date with a young woman he had been seeing online.

They ended up in physical tussle - not the amorous kind, but out of disappointment or enmity.

A man surnamed Huang had a crush on a 26-year-old woman surnamed Jin who looked cute and slender from the photos she exchanged with him. "Add our surnames together and we'll get Huangjin (literally "gold" in Chinese)," he bantered, meaning they would form an ideal couple.
