Students slide into winter sports lessons

By Sun Xiaochen | China Daily | Updated: 2015-02-06 07:30

High school student Wang Zihan has spent almost every weekend at resorts around Beijing's suburbs since learning to ski in early January.

Still, the four-hour weekly session is not enough to feed the 15-year-old's growing passion for the winter sport, which has gained increasing popularity among youth after Beijing's bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

To meet the teenagers' growing demand for winter sports participation, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education plans to introduce skating and skiing lessons to physical education curricula at primary and secondary schools starting from the spring semester.
