Item from Feb 6, 1982, in China Daily: Engineers load targets into China's first high-flux atomic reactor. This reactor with a thermal power of 125 megawatts, which began operation last year, is carrying out irradiation experiments and producing radioactive isotopes.

The country launched its first round of nuclear power projects in January 1955, with the first nuclear power plant beginning operations in Zhejiang province.

Six decades later, China boasts impressive achievements and steady development in its nuclear power projects. There are 22 nuclear power units in operation and another 26 are being built.
