My husband and I are the only children in our families, and to tell the truth, we're not very experienced at taking care of ourselves, let alone a baby.

Our families were a little nervous about looking after the baby and me, especially about the prospect of an emergency. We had a meeting and both sets of parents decided it would be best to find a confinement club, which they would pay for.

The club I attended wasn't my first choice, but the one I preferred was really too expensive. After comparing a range of prices, I chose one that cost about 27,000 yuan ($4,330).
