The sight of unusual structures popping up on China's skylines could be over now that President Xi Jinping has called for an end to "weird architecture". Here are five buildings that have captured the public's imagination.
1. The new office of China's Central Television in Beijing has been nicknamed "The Big Pants" because of its shape. The 234-meter-tall building was designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and German architect Ole Scheeren.
2. The 10-story Tianzi Hotel in Langfang, Hebei province, depicts Fu, Lu and Shou - three Chinese gods symbolizing a good future, prosperity and longevity.
