Phone retailers must register

The Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region has required cellphone and computer retailers to register their real names with public security departments, www.ts.cn reported on Thursday. Secondhand cellphones and computers, as well as flash memory products, are also included, according to a notice released by six government departments in the region. The move aims to curb activities undermining social stability, such as spreading rumors via handsets and computers.
