Parties walk out of peace talks with Houthis

By Agencies in Sanaa | China Daily | Updated: 2015-01-27 07:52

Talks aimed at ending Yemen's political crisis faltered on Sunday when three of the country's main political parties quit negotiations with the Houthi group, raising the prospect of growing chaos.

The parties, seen as close to President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, said they walked out of the talks after they said the Houthis reneged on previous promises.

Hadi, who is backed by the United States and is seen as an ally in its war on al-Qaida, resigned on Thursday after Houthi fighters crushed his presidential guards and deployed outside his home.
