Revival of REITs likely during second half

Real estate investment trusts will be revived in the first half of this year after a long hiatus, the Xinhua-affiliated Economic Information Daily reported on Monday. Citing unidentified official sources the newspaper said the top leader-ship had reached a consensus on restarting the alternative funding channel. While some policies still make it difficult to expand the pro gram nationwide, some cities will conduct a pilot program. REITs are trust funds managed by specialized investment organizations. They collect capital from specific investors byway of income certificates and then allocate the funds for investment.
