China Power making solid progress on green targets

By Lyu Chang | China Daily | Updated: 2015-01-22 07:12

Rapid economic growth and caring for the environment have not always sat comfortably together, but one of China's power generation groups claims it is now proving they can at least coexist on commercially successful projects.

China Power Investment Corp, one of the country's five major power generation groups, for instance, says it installed about 90 gigawatts of new clean energy capacity in 2013, including offshore wind and nuclear power, which accounted for 34.2 percent of its total capacity, the highest portion among the Big Five.

The other four companies are China Huaneng, China Guodian, China Datang, and China Huadian.
