Uniqlo commits to improvement

Fast Retailing Co Ltd, the owner of the Uniqlo retail chain, has committed to taking measures to improve the working conditions in its Chinese factories. The company said it will collaborate with third-parties and NGOs to ensure that the wellbeing and human rights of its factory workers are fully guaranteed. Two of Uniqlo's factories in Dongguan, Guangdong province were recently reported to have an insecure working environment, with the company offering low pay and forcing staff to work overtime.
