Shopping is a staid affair where I come from.
There are few bustling outdoor markets or street vendors hawking goods in the, comparatively speaking, mini-metropolises and minor cities and towns where I lived in the United States.
Consumers go mostly to big-name supermarkets and department stores, or specialty shops and boutiques. They amble through the aisles of goods distractedly looking over the wares.
