By Agencies in Sydney and Jakarta | China Daily | Updated: 2015-01-20 07:56

Canberra is pursuing efforts to save two convicted Australians from the firing squad in Indonesia, Australian Foreign Minister Julia Bishop said on Monday, following the execution of six drug offenders in the capital Jakarta.

"The prime minister (Tony Abbott) has written again to President (Joko) Widodo. The Australian government will continue to make representations at the highest level."

Brazil and the Netherlands recalled their ambassadors from Indonesia and expressed anger on Sunday after Jakarta executed two of their citizens along with drug offenders from Vietnam, Malawi, Nigeria and Indonesia.
