During the past few decades, newspapers have been one of the most common channels for Chinese people to receive the news and other information. But with the digital age, the Internet has become the fastest way for people to get their news fix.
According to a 2014 report from the China Internet Network Information Center research group, the number of Chinese netizens hit 632 million by the end of June last year, 14.42 million more than in 2013. The Internet covered 46.9 percent of the Chinese population, 1.1 percent more than in 2013.
