Thai style crowns comfort in Kunming

By Yang Ziman | China Daily | Updated: 2015-01-16 07:37

As Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, transforms itself into an economic hub in the southeastern economic zone, the five-star hotel Crowne Plaza, which opened last year, has been welcoming ever more guests.

"The Kunming Crowne Plaza is a gateway hotel with a convenient location. It is close to the train station; and shopping malls, convenience stores, and restaurants are all within five minutes walk," said Jim Burton, general manager of the Crowne Plaza Kunming City Center.

As a hotel owned by Tai Chong Cheang Group, the building was designed by Thai architects and features strong Thai characteristics in its interior decoration. Each room has large and heavy silverware hanging on the walls, such as necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Brown wood is set off by lamps that cast a soft yellow light, creating a simple but luxurious atmosphere.
