Working together means 'one plus one' equals a better world
Leading chemical companies such as Bayer Material Science, also known as BMS, are striving to reduce the negative impact of their production processes on the environment and provide innovative products to boost environmental protection and energy saving.
An increasing population and expanding urbanization provide a fertile ground for economic growth and the development of the chemical industry. Yet it may also be regarded as a threat to the environment as the production process leads to higher energy consumption and carbon dioxide emission, creating increased pressure on cities and the environment.
"The chemical industry plays an inimitable role in the process of urbanization," Zhao Jungui, vice-president and secretary general of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, said at the 2014 China Petroleum and Chemical International Conference in Tianjin.
