Research that really matters

As a reporter, I receive several invitations for conferences and forums organized by various kinds of think tanks in Beijing and Shanghai each week.

These activities come more frequently at the end of the year. But their themes and topics are rather similar, following the key words of the central government's policies. There is no big difference among the think tank experts' speeches either. Some star speakers may attend several of such events a day, holding the same draft speeches.

The bureaucratic ranks of the keynote speakers indicate the level of the events and show the influence of the organizers.
