Nation's tourism breaks record
Cuba on Tuesday said it welcomed a record three million international visitors in 2014, a welcome piece of news for an economy which counts tourism as one of its mainstays. "Today we have broken a record. We have welcomed three million international tourists in 2014, up 5.3 percent from last year," Cuban television reported. Tourism is Cuba's third largest hard-currency earning pillar, bringing in $2.5 billion in 2013.
