THE AMITY FOUNDATION

. Founded in 1985 by Chinese Christians and a number of interested groups, the Amity Foundation is an independent voluntary organization that describes itself as faith-influenced rather than faith-based. Originally headed by Bishop Ding Guangxun, the foundation was funded by churches overseas, and initially focused on projects in the poor rural areas of northern Jiangsu province in East China.

. As one of the earliest NGOs established by Chinese Christians, it is one of the largest and most influential charities in China, and aims to boost the development of the public welfare system, especially in fields such as education, social welfare, health, community development, environmental protection and disaster management.
