Strengthen regulation to ensure safety of health services, say experts
Medical reform has been high on the agenda of the Beijing municipal government to improve services over the past year. China Daily staff reporter Wang Xiaodong has talked to people in all areas of the field to explore the progress achieved and the challenges ahead.
Authorities should intensify the regulation of private investment entering the health sector to ensure the quality and safety of the rapidly expanding private health market, industry insiders have warned.
"Investors in the health sector cannot expect a quick profit, and the government should make clear to investors both the advantages and disadvantages of investing in the sector," said Wang Hong, chairwoman of Beijing Huilan Hospital, a privately run comprehensive hospital in Beijing.
