By Wang Xiaodong | China Daily | Updated: 2014-12-23 07:51

A senior Party official in Heilongjiang province has been placed under investigation, disciplinary authorities announced.

Han Xuejian, a member of the Standing Committee of the Heilongjiang provincial branch of the Communist Party of China, is being questioned about alleged "severe discipline and law violations", a euphemism for corruption, according to a statement released on Monday by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Han, 53, is also the Party chief in Daqing, home to the country's largest oilfield.
