Xing'an county was an area of strategic military importance in Chinese history and today is another attraction for visitors to the Guilin region.
Xing'an is about 60 kilometers north of Guilin, covers an area of about 2,345 square kilometers and is home to 380,000 residents.
The county offers history and unique features like the Lingqu Canal, a military and water conservancy project built by soldiers in the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC). Compared to the 1,747-km-long Grand Canal of China, which runs between Beijing and Hangzhou, Lingqu Canal is a hidden gem that flows for just 37.4 km and never leaves the county.
