Airline captain jailed for crash
The captain of a passenger plane that crashed in Northeast China four years ago was sentenced to three years in prison for pilot error. The flight, VD8387 from Harbin to Yichun in Heilongjiang province in August 2010, crashed during landing, killing 44 people and injuring 52. Captain Qi Quanjun, on his maiden flight to Yichun, attempted to land in unsafe visibility, according to the Yichun district people's court. He failed to evacuate passengers and aid the injured, the court said, and improperly left the aircraft.
