World leaders need to better protect children

By Malala Yousafzai | China Daily | Updated: 2014-12-12 07:45

Dear world leaders,

This year's Nobel Peace Prize shows that generations and nations can stand side by side to demand a better world for children. But it also puts in stark relief the injustice of a world where education can be classed a crime, a 15-year-old girl is shot simply for wanting to learn, and boys and girls are forced to spend their childhood working in factories.

So while it must be a moment for celebration, it must also serve as a rallying cry to the world to do more to ensure every child can be certain of a better future.
