Ex-inmate wants compensation

By China Daily | China Daily | Updated: 2014-12-12 07:45

A man who was serving a life sentence for homicide and released in October after a court found the evidence against him insufficient is asking the government for 3 million yuan ($485,000) in compensation for his imprisonment since 2005.

After Wang Yuansong was convicted and sentenced in Liupanshui, Guizhou province, his life sentence was twice confirmed by the provincial high court.

For years, Wang and his family sought to clear his name. Now they want to find out where the investigation and trial process went wrong, Nanfang Metropolis Daily in Guangzhou reported on Wednesday.
