Forum explores the depths of seaborne business

Representatives from government, research and business sectors shared their insights on the potential of the ocean economy at a key forum during the 2014 China Ocean Economy Expo in Zhanjiang.

One of the speakers, Zhang Zhanhai, director of the State Oceanic Administration's department of strategic planning and economy, said a number of major issues relating to the ocean economy "should be properly addressed during the 13th Five Year Plan (2016-2020)".

Those include the speed, scale, quality and benefits of marine sectors, as well as resource management, the role of the government and the market, innovation and industrialization of technologies and going-global strategies.
