Subway pollution survey questioned

An expert at the NGO Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs discounted a survey finding that PM2.5 pollution in the city's subways was 16 times greater than above ground. The expert, Ma Jun, said the finding by a private environmental research institute in January 2013 was not scientific because measurements were made on only one day at a single site, Beijing Youth Daily reported on Thursday. The newspaper's own measurements at several stations found PM2.5 underground no higher than 12 times the level at the surface.
