Experts: Communication law needed

By Cao Yin | China Daily | Updated: 2014-12-02 07:47

Journalism and media specialists underscored the necessity of making a communication law in China after the former head of the nation's press and publication authority revealed that legislators are studying such a law.

Chinese legislators are researching the making of a communication law in an attempt to put news communication under a legal system, according to Liu Binjie, the former head of the General Administration of Press and Publication.

While new media post information is sometimes freewheeling, the same contents will face stricter requirements when published or broadcast by traditional media, which causes the reports of traditional media to be inflexible, said Liu, who also is a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's legislature.
