'Some cities are thinking 100 years ahead'

The Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation has the vitality of host city Guangzhou, an energy that facilitates innovative solutions to meet universal urban challenges, said senior officials bestowing the honor.

"The Guangzhou Award is going to continue because of the host's open-mindedness in organizing the event and the high participation," said Elisabeth Mathilde Flora Gateau, former secretary-general of UCLG.

"And it's exciting to see that some cities are thinking 100 years ahead."
