Drug based on celery goes into production

Professor Chang Junbiao and his research team at Zhengzhou University have extracted an ingredient from celery to improve the medicines used in the treatment of strokes. On Tuesday, a pharmaceutical factory paid the research team 45 million yuan ($7.33 million) to buy the intellectual property right for the extraction technology, Dahe Daily reported on Wednesday. A new drug based on the technology, which causes fewer side effects, is expected to undergo clinical trials next April and could be available to patients in four years' time.
