Fuzhou Special: Fuzhou set to build a 21st Century Maritime Silk Road hub

Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province, is striving to revive its ancient glory and become a hub of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

After President Xi Jinping called for the construction of the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" last year the city's government came up with a plan to get involved.

The "belt and road" strategy gives the city historic opportunities, Fuzhou Mayor Yang Yimin said at a press conference in mid-November.
