"Our monitoring data and this attack all tell that Ustin is in good physical condition, and has been active on Heixiazi Island."

ZHU SHIBING, a wildlife protection expert from the Northeast Forestry University, said after footprints and other traces left near a goat farm on Heixiazi Island in Fuyuan county of Heilongjiang province on Sunday night were believed to belong to Ustin, a Siberian tiger released into the wild by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The tiger attacked the goats, killing two, and three others are missing. A hole the size of a human finger was clearly visible on each goat's head and their skulls were crushed, showing the power of the tiger's jaws, Zhu said.
